
Cantwell Named Preseason Top Five First Baseman by D1Baseball

PITTSBURGH – Pitt's Luke Cantwell was named a Preseason Top Five First Baseman by D1Baseball this week. Cantwell was ranked as the fifth-best first baseman in the country coming into the 2025 season, the highest of anyone in the ACC.
Cantwell hit .333 with 62 hits, 44 RBI, 10 doubles and 10 home runs last season. He led the Panthers in runs scored (49), hit by pitches (18), on base percentage (.515) and set the program record for single-season walks, working 57 free passes.
The FDU transfer played and started in all 55 of Pitt's games in his first year with the Panthers. Cantwell collected 19 multiple-hit games, nine multiple-RBI games and finished the season by reaching base safely in 51 consecutive contests.
