THE OPENING TIP
- Pitt (12-5, 3-3 ACC) returns home to host Clemson (14-4, 5-1 ACC) at the Petersen Events Center Saturday, Jan. 18. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m. with Tom Werme and John Henson calling the action on The CW.
- The Panthers have dropped three consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 11-17. 2023. Pitt has not lost four straight games since the end of the 2021-22 season.
- Pitt is retiring Sam Clancy's No. 15 jersey at halftime of Saturday's game. He will join Don Hennon (10), Billy Knight (34), Charles Smith (32), and Brandin Knight (20) in the rafters at the Petersen Events Center.
- The Panthers will also be honoring its basketball alumni during a halftime presentation.
- Pitt leads the ACC in free throw percentage (.790), while ranking second in effective field goal percentage (.547), and field goal percentage (.474). The Panthers also rank fourth in the conference in scoring (80.7 ppg.), scoring margin (+10.9 ppg.), and three-point field goals per game (8.7 3pg.).
- The Panthers' starting backcourt of Ishmael Leggett and Jaland Lowe combines to average 34.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 3.6 steals per game. The duo has combined for 28 double-figure scoring games, including 12 games with 20 or more points scored.
- Pitt is 12-0 on the season when winning or tying the rebounding battle. The Panthers have been outrebounded by a combined 56 boards in their five losses this season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Pitt is one of two programs (joined by Rutgers) in the NCAA with two guards averaging 16.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game or better. Jaland Lowe (17.5 ppg., 4.4 rpg.) and Ishmael Leggett (16.5 ppg., 5.6 rpg.) have anchored the Panther attack through the first 17 games of the season.
- Jaland Lowe (17.5 ppg.) and Ishmael Leggett (16.5 ppg.) rank sixth and 10th, respectively, in the ACC in scoring. Pitt is the only program with two players ranked in the top 10 in scoring.
- Jaland Lowe (17.5 ppg., 4.4 rpg., 5.9 apg.) is one of five players in the NCAA averaging at least 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
- Zack Austin is averaging 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game since joining Pitt's starting lineup. He is 29-of-54 (.537) from the field, including 16-of-33 (.485) from three-point range, over the past eight contests.
- Cameron Corhen has scored in double figures 11 times and is averaging 10.4 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game. He also leads the Panthers in dunks (27) and offensive rebounds (39), while shooting 61.2 percent (74-of-121) from the field.
- Ishmael Leggett is one of six players in the NCAA averaging at least 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
- Jorge Diaz Graham leads the Panthers in field goal percentage (.625 - 16-of-30) and three-point percentage (.615 - 16-of-26). He matched a career high with four threes at Florida State and is 11-of-14 (.786) from beyond the arc over the past seven games.
- Ishmael Leggett is averaging 18.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 63.6 percent (63-of-99) from the field, and 46.9 percent (15-of-32) from three-point range, at the Petersen Events Center this season.
- Jaland Lowe has topped the 20-point mark three times and is averaging 19.3 points per game and 5.0 assists per game in ACC play. He is also 40-of-41 (.976) from the foul line in six conference games.
- Zack Austin leads the Panthers in three-point field goals (30) and blocked shots (26). He is one of seven players in the NCAA with at least 25 three-pointers and 30 blocks this season. Mouhamdou Gueye (2021-22) is the only other Panther to lead the team in blocks and three-pointers in a season.
- Jaland Lowe is 34-of-35 (.971) from the foul line over the past five games for the Panthers. He is second in the ACC and 22nd nationally in free throw percentage (.905 - 86-of-95).
- The Panthers are currently averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game, while shooting 36.3 percent (147-of-405) from beyond the arc for the season. Pitt has averaged 9.0 or more threes per game and shot better than 35 percent from long range in each of the past two seasons.
- Pitt is 10-0 on the season and 48-2 under Jeff Capel when scoring 80 or more points in a game. The Panthers have scored 80 or more points in nine of their 10 home games this season.
- The Panthers are averaging 89.4 points per game, while shooting 52.6 percent (309-of-587) from the field and 41.4 percent (99-of-239) from three-point range in 10 games at the Petersen Events Center.
- Pitt leads the ACC and ranks 13th in the NCAA in free throw percentage (.790). The Panthers set a school record with a .759 free throw percentage during the 2022-23 season.

PANTHER SPOTLIGHT – SAM CLANCY JERSEY RETIREMENT
- Sam Clancy, the only player in program history with over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career, becomes the fifth Pitt player to have his jersey retired Saturday. Clancy averaged a double-double in all four seasons at Pitt (1977-81) and holds school records with 1,342 career rebounds, 78 career double-figure rebounding games, and 66 career double-doubles. He also ranks 12th at Pitt with 1,671 career points and fourth with 170 career blocks.
