
No. 16 Pitt Travels to Bucknell Friday

PITTSBURGH—The 16th-ranked Pitt wrestling team (7-2, 1-0 ACC) will travel to Lewisburg to meet Bucknell (4-4, 2-0 EIWA) Friday night in a non-conference dual. The match is slated to start a 6 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.
Pitt is 7-2 in dual meets this season with seven of its nine matches coming against nationally ranked opponents. The Panthers are coming off back-to-back wins against ranked opponents last weekend against Stanford and West Virginia. Bucknell enters the match with a 4-4 record in dual meets with a 2-0 mark in conference matches.
NOTABLES
- Mac Stout has won 11 consecutive matches to climb to No. 11 in the InterMat rankings. Stout leads the Panthers with 14 wins on the season, including seven wins by major decision or tech fall.
- No. 17 Luca Augustine holds an 11-4 record on the season, including going 6-2 in dual meets and 5-4 against ranked opponents.
- Pitt has eight individual wrestlers ranked in the InterMat rankings in their respective weight classes, including five in the top 20.
Pitt won back-to-back ranked duals over No. 15 Stanford and No. 22 West Virginia to climb to No. 16 in the latest NWCA team rankings. The Panthers opened ACC action by defeating the Cardinal 24-15 Friday night at home before traveling less than 40 hours later to pick up a 25-17 road win against the Mountaineers on Sunday.
The Panthers trailed by 11 points after the first three bouts and came back to defeat the Mountaineers 25-17 Sunday afternoon at the WVU Coliseum. Pitt combined to score 16 points over the final four matches (174, 184, 197, 285) en route to its victory.
THE SERIES
- Friday's meet will be the fifth meeting between Pitt and Bucknell and the first since the 2018-19 season. The Panthers defeated the Bison at the Fitzgerald Field House, 34-4, in their last meeting.
- Pitt holds a 3-1 all-time record against Bucknell.
