Lauren Rust to Utilize Medical Redshirt; Will Miss Remainder of 2024-25 Campaign

PITTSBURGH — Sophomore forward Lauren Rust will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, as announced by head coach Tory Verdi Wednesday evening.

"Lauren has worked tirelessly during the rehabilitation process from an injury she sustained earlier this season; however, we've decided that it's best for her to utilize a medical redshirt and begin preparing for a full recovery next season," said Verdi. "We will remain committed to providing a world class student-athlete experience, and with the help of our medical staff, we have faith that Lauren will make a full recovery."

Rust, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, started in each of Pitt's first three games, averaging 8.0 points and 6.3 rebounds, while shooting 60 percent from the floor.
