PITTSBURGH – Panther right-handed pitcher Aidan Coleman will represent the Newport Gulls in the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game at Muzzy Field in Bristol, CT on Sunday, July 21.
Coleman has started in all six of his appearances for the Gulls this summer and just threw a seven-inning complete game in his most recent outing. The San Antonio, TX native boasts a 4-0 record with a 2.50 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.
Coleman was Pitt's primary weekday starter as a true freshman last season, making 10 starts in 13 appearances. He earned three wins and led all Pitt freshman in strikeouts last year with 34. He earned his first career win, in his first career appearance, on opening weekend last spring when he threw four strong innings in relief against Maine.
Each NECBL All-Star Team consists of nine pitchers (the starter, seven relievers, and one closer), three catchers (a starter and two reserves), and a starter and reserve for all of the infield positions (1B, 2B, SS, 3B). Two designated hitters (a starter and reserve) are selected, as well as three starters and three reserves in the outfield and one "Coach's Selection" made by the head coach.
