Pitt Unveils 2024 Schedule; Season Tickets On Sale Now
7/1/2024 11:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
PITTSBURGH – Following a program record fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, head coach Jay Vidovich officially announced Pitt's 2024 slate Monday, which features nine regular season home matches at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Highlighted by a season-opening showdown with last year's Big East runner-up, Georgetown, Pitt will face eight teams that reached the NCAA Tournament a season ago, including seven that reached the round of 32. Additionally, four of the Panthers' 2024 opponents (Georgetown, SMU, North Carolina and Virginia) finished the 2023 season with an RPI ranking of 15 or higher.
"We're excited for another challenging slate with this combination of conference and non-conference opponents," said Vidovich regarding the schedule. "Particularly in the ACC, we're thrilled to face SMU and Cal during their inaugural season in the league. As usual, I expect the conference to be strong and potentially even better than it's been in the past. Out of conference, we'll play several tough opponents, including Georgetown, Denver and High Point at home. We'll also travel for road matches at Penn State and Penn, which are two quality teams. Overall, we expect the 2024 campaign to be a challenge, but we'll look to rise to the occasion."
2024 Schedule
Pitt will compete in a pair of exhibition matches against Maryland and Akron on Aug. 10 and 16, before officially opening the 2024 season on Aug. 22, hosting Georgetown at 8 p.m. Three days later, the Panthers will host Mercyhurst at 7 p.m., to conclude the opening weekend of action.
Pitt travels for a three-match road swing, facing a pair of in-state foes in Penn State (Aug. 30) and Penn (Sept. 1), before opening ACC play at SMU (Sept. 7). The Panthers will then return home to face Louisville on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. in the ACC home-opener.
Following a mid-week road match at Cleveland State (Sept. 17), Pitt returns home to square off with Boston College on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., before traveling to face Virginia Tech on Sept. 27.
The Panthers will then open a four-match home stand, hosting a quartet of opponents in Howard (Oct. 2), Denver (Oct. 7), Cal (Oct. 11) and High Point (Oct. 14) with each match kicking off at 7 p.m., respectively.
Pitt then travels for a highly-anticipated matchup with North Carolina on Oct. 19. Six days later (Oct. 25), the Panthers host Virginia at 7 p.m. in the home finale prior to finishing the 2024 regular season on Nov. 1 at Syracuse.
Pitt's televised match schedule and promotional schedule will be announced at a later date.
