Fox Named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team

PITTSBURGH - Pitt reliever Phil Fox tabbed another postseason honor this afternoon as he was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team.
Fox was named an All-ACC second team performer last month and has now added another accolade to his bio in just his first year with the program.
It is Pitt's first all-region honor since now-staff member, Matt Gilbertson, was named second team all-region in 2022. Fox's first team selection is the Panthers' first all-region first team member since Nico Popa in 2019.
Phil Fox was lights out in relief for the Panthers in 2024, collecting eight saves, three wins and 45 strike outs in his 23 appearances. Fox finished the year with a 1.47 ERA, allowing just seven runs in 36.2 innings of work. He ranked second in the ACC in games finished (20) and third in the ACC in saves (8).
After just one season, Fox now sits fourth all-time in Pitt history in career saves. His eight saves this year were the second-most in a single season in program history. The Pittsburgh native earned saves against top-ranked teams like No. 7 Duke, No. 8 Florida State and No. 14 Virginia Tech this past year.
At Gardner-Webb last year, Fox was named to the Big South All-Freshman Team as a redshirt freshman. He appeared in 23 games and made one start over 30.1 innings. He emerged as the team's closer and lead the Runnin' Bulldogs in that category with three saves last season.
