
Panthers Add Transfer Guard Brooklynn Miles

PITTSBURGH – Pitt received an official commitment from transfer guard Brooklynn Miles as announced by head coach Tory Verdi Monday morning. Miles, the 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year out of Kentucky, played two seasons at Tennessee (2021-23) before spending last season at Kentucky (2023-24).
"Brooklynn is a dynamic veteran point guard with the ability to make an immediate impact in our program," said Verdi. "She excels in transition with her ability to create for herself and her teammates. Defensively, she is one of the toughest on ball defenders that I've seen, and her competitive spirit will be contagious for the team."
Miles is averaging 3.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in 88 career contests (27 starts). As a junior at Kentucky, she posted 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 steals in just under 30 minutes per game while starting 27 of 33 contests. Miles led the Wildcats in assists (96) and steals (38), dishing out three or more assists in 20 games and collecting two or more steals 10 times. The Frankfort, Ky., native scored in double figures seven times, including four times in SEC play with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field at Alabama.
At Tennessee, Miles played in 56 games averaging 1.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists, while shooting 40.0 percent from the field. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her career-high 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals against Georgia State in December 2021. Miles also played in all six NCAA Tournament games across two seasons as a Lady Vol, helping her team to back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances on 10.3 minutes per game, 2.0 points per game and 1.2 rebounds per game in the pair of tournaments.
Miles was ranked No. 62 in the Class of 2021 (World Exposure Report), and the was the 20th-ranked point guard in the class (espnW) out of high school. She had a decorated career at Franklin County High School, which included being named 2021 Miss Kentucky Basketball, 2021 Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year and 2021 Lexington Herald-Leader Player of the Year. As a senior, she delivered 15.8 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game. During her four-year FCHS career, Miles combined for 2,278 points (14.0 ppg.), 624 assists (3.8 apg.), 477 rebounds (2.9 rpg.) and 451 steals (2.8 spg.), while shooting 44.9 percent from the field. She was a four-time 11th Region All-Tournament Team selection (2017, 2019, 2020, 2021), a three-time Coaches 11th Region Team, State Journal All-County MVP and 41st District MVP honoree (2019, 2020, 2021), and a two-time Lexington Herald-Leader and Louisville Courier Journal All-State First Team member (2020, 2021).
Miles is the fourth transfer portal addition for the Panthers joining MaKayla Elmore (Clemson), Mikayla Johnson (Colorado), and Khadija Faye (Texas).
