PITTSBURGH – Head coach Tory Verdi continued to remake the Pitt Women's Basketball roster with the signing of Colorado transfer Mikayla Johnson. The 6-1 guard out of Anchorage, Alaska averaged 1.9 points in 15 games last season for the Buffalos.
"Mikayla is a talented player who gives us depth and height at the wing position," said Verdi. "She has the ability to get down hill and attack the basket. Her best basketball is ahead of her and I expect her to have an impact on the future of our program."
Johnson graduated high school early and enrolled at Colorado in January of 2023. The 2022 Cook Inlet Conference Player of the Year averaged 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 23 contests as a junior at Bartlett High School.
Johnson is the second transfer portal addition for the Panthers this offseason joining 6-3 forward MaKayla Elmore (Clemson). Pitt has also added high school standouts Audrey Biggs and Kiara Williams to the 2024 recruiting class.
