Braggs Collects First ACC Freshman of the Week Nod

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The ACC has named Somiyah Braggs as the ACC Women's Freshman of the Week. Braggs had impressive performances at the Virginia Challenge, taking third in both the 100-meter and 200-meter races and helping the Pitt 4x100 Relay to a second-place finish.
The Miami native began the weekend with a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.77. The following day, Braggs secured another podium finish, this time in the 200-meter dash. Braggs' time of 23.67 was a new personal best and the sixth fastest time in program history. In the 200-meter event, Braggs ranks 14th in the conference and is the second fastest freshman in the ACC.
This is the first conference accolade for Braggs and the first Freshman of the Week award for Pitt so far this season.
