
Panthers Record Eight New Personal Bests at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Pitt distance ran well this weekend, recording eight new personal bests at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University.
Caroline Rusinski had the highest finish for the Panthers on the women's side as she placed sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 11:11.48. Gianna Cagliola came in 12th place in the same event with a time of 11:22.49.
Freshman Camy Kiser won her heat of the 1500-meter race. Kiser claimed 17th place overall in 4:28.75. A duo of juniors, Reagan Flannery and Sydney Nowicki were next, collecting 20th and 21st respectively in 4:30.37 and 4:30.57. Flannery's time was a new personal best, as was Claire Hoffman's mark of 4:37.39 and Alex Fleck's 4:58.00.
A pair of Panthers, Christina Elliott and Isabella Bufalini competed in the first 5000-meter race of their careers. Elliott crossed the finish line in 17:47.19 and Bufalini stopped the clock in 18:27.08.
Jack Miller claimed the best finish for the men, taking second in the men's 1500-meter race with a new personal best time of 3:45.37, which ranks eighth in the Pitt all-time top-10 record book. Junior Finn Walsh followed behind Miller for third place in 3:46.17. Junior Luke Simpson finished in the top ten in the 1500-meter race as well, placing eighth with a time of 3:48.54. Luke Miller recorded a new personal best of 3:50.58.
Senior Ethan Maher raced to a new personal best, 15:04.78 in the 5000-meter race to close out the competition.
The Panthers will be back in action next weekend at the UVA Challenge in Charlottesville, Va. April 19-20.
