PITTSBURGH—The Pitt football team concluded its 2024 spring drills on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium with the Blue-Gold Spring Game presented by Mac.Bid.
On a sunny but windy afternoon on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, Pitt's Gold Team emerged with a 17-10 victory over Blue in a competitive scrimmage between two groupings of the Panthers.
Senior running back Daniel Carter and sophomore wide receiver Kenny Johnson scored Gold's decisive touchdowns before redshirt freshman wide receiver Lamar Seymore caught a TD for Blue.
Playing behind the backup offensive line, starting quarterback Nate Yarnell was efficient for Blue, completing 12-of-16 passes for 108 yards and the 34-yard touchdown to Seymore.
Gold received the starting offensive line in the draft in the week leading up to the game, which consisted of four 10-minute quarters, and benefitted with efficient running and a couple big plays from Johnson and senior tight end Gavin Bartholomew, who combined for 122 receiving yards and a score.
Defensively, safety Javon McIntyre recorded an interception for the only turnover of the game and linebacker Rasheem Biles tallied a game-high seven tackles with two for loss, one sack and one PBU.
Pitt opens the 2024 campaign on Saturday, August 31 against Kent State at Acrisure Stadium.
