
Pitt Signs Transfer Forward MaKayla Elmore

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team has signed 6-3 forward MaKayla Elmore, as announced Tuesday evening by head coach Tory Verdi. Elmore one season of eligibility remaining after beginning her collegiate career at Clemson.
"I am certainly excited to announce the commitment of Makayla," said Verdi. "I think that she will be able to help us immediately and make an impact in our program. Her size, athleticism and versatility will definitely anchor our front court."
Elmore averaged 4.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while totaling 22 three-point field goals, 39 assists, and 30 steals in 31 games (28 starts) last season with the Tigers. Her best game came late in the season as she posted 17 points and six rebounds, while going 5-of-6 from three-point range in a road win over Wake Forest.
The native of Fostoria, Ohio, recorded 241 points, 305 rebounds, 40 three-point field goals, 61 assists, 40 blocks, and 56 steals in 93 career games at Clemson.
Elmore was ranked as the No. 18 forward by ESPN out of high school. She was a three-time First Team All-Ohio selection with over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career at Hopewell Loudon. Elmore earned All-Ohio Player of the Year honors and broke the school's single-game scoring record with 41 points in a game as a junior.
