No. 23 Pitt Wrestling Primed for Sunday’s ACC Championship

PITTSBURGH—The 23rd-ranked Pitt wrestling team learned the 2024 ACC Championship brackets, seeds and NCAA Championships allocations for the league ahead of Sunday's conference tournament set to be held at North Carolina's Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill.
Pitt senior and team captain Cole Matthews received the No. 1 seed at 141 pounds as he seeks his third consecutive ACC title in the same weight class, something only Jake Wentzel (2020-22 at 165 pounds) and Nino Bonaccorsi (2021-23 at 197 pounds) have previously accomplished for Pitt.
Brothers Holden Heller at 165 pounds and Reece Heller at 184 pounds both earned No. 2 seeds and automatic byes to the ACC semifinals for Sunday's tournament.

Here is a breakdown of Pitt's wrestlers bound for the 2024 ACC Championship, their national ranking, individual conference seeding and how many automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Kansas City each of their respective weight classes in the ACC received:

141 – No. 14 Cole Matthews – No. 1 ACC Seed – 3 NCAA Bids
149 – Finn Solomon – No. 4 ACC Seed – 2 NCAA Bids
157 – Jared Keslar – No. 4 ACC Seed – 2 NCAA Bids
165 – No. 14 Holden Heller – No. 2 ACC Seed – 2 NCAA Bids
174 – No. 18 Luca Augustine – No. 5 ACC Seed – 4 NCAA Bids
184 – No. 9 Reece Heller – No. 2 ACC Seed – 4 NCAA Bids

Seven ranked Panthers, including the returning Dayton Pitzer at heavyweight, will head to UNC as all of Pitt's starters vie for the opportunity to secure automatic paths to the national meet later in March.
The ACC Championship begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday from Carmichael Arena with two mats that will stream on the ESPN app via ACC Network Extra, which requires users to be logged in with a cable subscription or TV provider that includes the ACC Network.
Semifinals will start at 1 p.m., with consolation rounds set for 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
Finals for all every weight class will be televised live on ACC Network at 7 p.m.
