PITTSBURGH – Foluke Olujide-Ajibade and Lydia Bottelier earned Second Team All-American honors for their efforts at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend. It is the first recognition for both Olujide-Ajibade and Bottelier.
The duo became the second and third Second Team All-American selections in Pitt women's indoor track and field history. In 2011, the NCAA determined that student-athletes who placed 9-16 in each event at NCAA Championships would be named as Second Team All-Americans. Prior to this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Cambrya Jones was Pitt's only Second Team All-American. She finished in 10th place in the 200m race in 2012.
Olujide-Ajibade joined Jones in the record books after the completion of the women's weight throw Thursday evening. The senior from Dublin, Ohio recorded a throw of 20.50m, finishing in 15th place. Upon the completion of the pentathlon the following day, Lydia Bottelier added her name to the record books as she finished in 13th place with 4000 points.
The University of Pittsburgh women's track and field program boasts 27 Indoor First Team All-Americans. Pitt's most recent First Team All-American is Ilse Steigenga, who placed eighth in the long jump at last year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 6.39m. In total, the University of Pittsburgh women's track and field program has named 30 student-athletes as First and Second Team All-Americans.
