PITTSBURGH, PA – Saturday marks game three of three in the Pitt Lacrosse current homestand. The Panthers will face off in an ACC battle against the Louisville Cardinals at 12 PM from Highmark Stadium.
This weekend's game will be the fourth in program history. Pitt defeated Louisville twice in their inaugural season, winning 17-10 at home in the regular season and 13-10 in the first round of the ACC Championship. In 2023, the Cardinals prevailed with a 12-9 victory from L&N Stadium. The programs are familiar with each other in more ways than one, as current Cardinal Head Coach Scott Teeter has led Team Canada and Panther Head Coach Emily Boissonneault on multiple occasions. Most recently, Teeter and Boissonneault earned silver and gold medals respectively in the summer of 2022 at the World Championships and The World Games.
Pitt is coming off of a win over Detroit Mercy last time out. Juniors Jenna Hendrickson (10G) and Ava Washington (8G) each recorded hat tricks in the game and lead the way in scoring so far along with Sydney Naylor (8G). Four Panthers have been integral on the circle to this point, with Jill Fenech, Emily Coughlin, Maggie Long and Maureen McNierny combining for 55 of Pitt's 67 draw controls. In the net, goalie Audrey Moran has made 37 saves with a .463 save percentage to anchor the defense.
Three Louisville Cardinals have recorded over 10 points early in their 2024 campaign: Kokoro Nakazawa (13G, 4A), Nicole Perroni (14G, 2A) and Kylea Dobson (11G, 3A). Sara Addeche has played every minute in goal for Louisville and has stopped 61 shots already.
As always at Highmark Stadium, admission is free. Fans will receive a Pitt Lacrosse headband upon entry into the game while supplies last. Follow all the Pitt Lacrosse action 24/7 on Instagram and X: @Pitt_WLAX.
