
Funk Named Preseason Top 100 Outfielder

PITTSBURGH - C.J. Funk has been named as a "Preseason Top 100 Outfielder" by D1Baseball.com. Funk was ranked as the No. 68 outfielder in their countdown.
The senior outfielder had a career year last season, notching career-highs in nearly every offensive statistical category. Funk finished with 52 hits, 48 runs scored, 43 RBIs, 14 doubles, 13 home runs (tying a team-high) and a .549 slugging percentage. The Bellefonte, PA native displays a combination of violence and patience at the plate, as he drew a career-high 49 walks in 2023 and helped Pitt set a single-season record for most walks in program history. He also appeared and started in all of the Panthers' games last season (55) and has started in 100 games at Pitt in his career.
Throughout his three-year Pitt career, Funk has compiled 109 games played, 94 hits, 90 walks, 84 runs scored, 67 RBIs, 23 doubles and 18 home runs.
