Ewing, Chen Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Gymnastics' Jordyn Ewing and Men's Swimming and Diving's Jerry Chen were named the PNC Achievers of the Week.
Junior Jordyn Ewing had a strong performance on Friday evening against the North Carolina Tarheels at Pitt's ACC home opener. Ewing posted scores of 9.825 or higher across her three events of the night. The Nova Scotia, Canada native posted her strong routine of the night on floor. Ewing secured a 9.925 for her routine on floor – matching her career high she set last season. Her efforts on floor helped the Panthers posted a season high 49.325 on the event. The junior also competed on bars and beam where she earned a 9.825 and 9.850, respectively. With the help of Ewing, Pitt posted a season high 196.525 victory over the Tarheels – their third highest overall team score in program history.
Jerry Chen earned two of Pitt's seven event wins at No. 14 Ohio state on Friday afternoon. The fifth-year senior kicked off the meet with a win as a member of Pitt's 200-medley relay team with a time of 1:26.83. Chen would pick up two more wins in the 100 Breast (54.80) and the 200 Breast (1:58.67) later in the afternoon. The Panthers will travel back to Columbus, Ohio, for the Ohio State Winter Invitational Feb. 16-18 before heading to the ACC Championships in Greensboro, NC from Feb. 20-24.
