
No. 23 Pitt Caps Regular Season with Two Home Duals

PITTSBURGH—The Pitt wrestling team concludes its 2023-24 regular season this week with a pair of home matches at the Fitzgerald Field House on Thursday and Friday evening.
The 23rd-ranked Panthers (8-8, 1-3 ACC) will host Rider on Thursday at 6 p.m. before finishing the ACC dual calendar on Friday against Virginia at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.

Both duals will be streamed on ACC Network Extra via the ESPN app.
Rider (7-6, 7-0 MAC) are leading the Mid-American Conference and bring three ranked wrestlers to Pittsburgh for Thursday's contest, which marks the first meeting between the Broncs and Panthers on the wrestling mat since 2009.
Virginia (7-5, 1-3 ACC) also hold a winning record in duals this season and likewise have three ranked individuals in the Cavaliers' projected lineup.
Pitt's lineup this week consists of six ranked wrestlers, led by No. 10 Reece Heller at 184 pounds, his brother No. 13 Holden Heller at 165 and the surging No. 14 Cole Matthews at 141.
The 165-pound Heller and Matthews will be among seven Pitt wrestling seniors honored on Friday.
Also ranked for the Panthers, No. 23 Vinnie Santaniello at 133 pounds, No. 18 Luca Augustine at 174 and No. 15 Mac Stout at 197 look to finish the regular season strong this weekend to boost their chances of earning a trip to nationals next month.
Gavin's team will travel to Chapel Hill on Sunday, March 10 for the 2024 ACC Wrestling Championship.
The 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships will be held in Kansas City from March 21-23.
