MATCHUP
The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Ohio State for their final dual meet of the season. The competition is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The men's team is 1-9 all-time against Ohio State while women's team 8-6 all-time against the Buckeyes. The last time both teams faced off against the Buckeyes was Feb. 1, 2019.
RANKINGS
- Sophie Yendell enters the meet with the No. 14 fastest time in Division I in the 50 Free (22.03).
- Claire Jansen ranks No. 25 in 100 Back with a time of 52.15 SCY.
- Three women's relays hold times in the Top 40 (SCY) in the nation: 200 Medley Relay, 19th (1:36.92); 200 Free Relay, 28th (1:30.06), and the 800 Free Relay, 36th (7:15.78).
- All four of the men's relays rank in the Top 40: 800 Free Relay (6:24.43 – 19th), 200 Medley Relay (1:25.07 – 25th), 400 Free Relay (2:53.23 – 26th), and the 200 Free Relay (1:18.84 – 37th).
- Max Matteazzi owns two times ranked in the Top 50 in the 200 IM (1:44.47 – 40th), 400 IM (3:46.99 – 39th).
- Marcin Goraj ranks 22nd in the 200 Back (1:40.76) and 41st in the 200 Free (1:34.13).
- Krzysztof Radziszewski ranks 38th (46.23) in the 100 Back SCY
- Michal Piela ranks 44th in the 400 IM (3:47.41).
DIVING
- Mariana Osorio Mendoza joined the Panthers as mid-semester enrollee and made her debut with the team against West Virginia. Mendoza joins the Pitt team as a Junior World Silver Medalist, South American Champion, Colombian National Champion and a member of the Colombian National Team.
- Dylan Reed and Cameron Cash finished fourth in the men's 3-meter synchro during the USA Diving Winter Nationals in November. The diving duo finished with a score of 54.66 in the finals after also claiming fourth in the prelims with an Olympic Trials qualifying score of 58.15.
- Four divers have secured an NCAA Zone Cut score, including three divers qualifying in two events:
- 1-meter: (M) Cameron Cash, Daley Fraser, Chase Marafioto, Dylan Reed; (W) Hannah Polosky, Rachel Dickerson
- 3-meter: (M) Cameron Cash, Daley Fraser, Juan Osorio Mendoza, Dylan Reed; (W) Jess Vega

ACC PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK
- Dylan Reed has earned ACC Men's Diver of the Week honors four times this season. Reed won it for his performances against Penn State and Notre Dame (Oct. 20-21), against George Washington (Nov. 4), at West Virginia (Jan. 13) and against Minnesota (Jan. 19). The four weekly conference honors are the most in a season by a Pitt diver since Dominic Giordano received the award five times in 2016-17.
- Sophie Yendell and Max Matteazzi were named the women's and men's ACC Performer of the Week for Dec. 5 after strong outings at the Minnesota Invite. Yendell had a dominant weekend, breaking two school records, securing three NCAA 'B' Standard times, and helping four relays secure top-5 finishes. Yendell won the 50 Free (22.03) and broke her own school record with a second-place finish in the 100 Fly (52.08) – securing an NCAA 'B' time in each event. Yendell's time in the 50 Free is ranked No. 15 in the nation while her time in the 100 Fly is tied for No. 20.
- Matteazzi posted strong swims throughout the prestigious Minnesota Invite, winning the 200 Breast (1:55.89), finishing second in the 400 IM (3:46.99), and picking up a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM (1:44.47) – meeting the NCAA 'B' Standard in each event. The Vincenza, Italy, native was also a member of the 200 Medley Relay (1:26.03) and the 800 Free Relay team (6:24.43) that each finished fifth. Pitt's 800 Free Relay time of 6:24.43 is ranked the No. 19 fastest time in the nation so far this season.
- Jerry Chen was named the ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week after winning four total events over two meets against Stanford and California, Oct. 13-14. Chen won the 100 and 200 Breast events in each meet and is currently ranked No. 9 in the nation in the 200 Breast (1:57.83) and No. 13 in the 100 Breast (54.03).
