PITTSBURGH—Pitt Athletics is proud to announce a $1 million gift to the re-established Athletic Director's Fund, made by Ed and LyndaSue Miller. This generous commitment reflects their deep dedication to the University of Pittsburgh and their vision to elevate Pitt in this exciting new era.
Miller, a proud Pitt Football Forever Panther, was inspired to give back to the school and program that played a pivotal role in shaping his personal and professional journey. His enduring passion for Pitt Football drives his commitment to ensuring the program is equipped to succeed and return to prominence at the pinnacle of college football.
"This gift is about honoring and preserving the legacy of Pitt football—a program with a storied history of producing some of the greatest players ever to play the game. I am proud to give back to a program that shaped my personal and professional journey," said Miller. "It's important to me that Pitt football not only reflects this proud tradition but also has the resources to remain competitive at the national level. I believe Pitt football should always be a source of pride for its alumni, students, and fans, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to support its continued pursuit of excellence in this new era of college athletics."
The Athletic Director's Fund serves as a cornerstone initiative designed to address the most critical needs of Pitt Athletics. By supporting strategic priorities, the fund empowers Pitt's student-athletes and programs to excel amidst the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics. Significant contributions, like this one, ensure Pitt remains a competitive force on the national stage, creating a lasting impact for years to come.
"We are profoundly grateful to Ed and LyndaSue for their generous gift to the Athletic Director's Fund," said Allen Greene, Director of Athletics. "Over the past few months, we have experienced an outpouring of philanthropic support for our vision for Pitt Athletics. Their commitment accelerates the momentum we are building and serves an inspiring example for others to join us in our mission to develop our student-athletes and win championships."
Miller's connection to Pitt runs deep. A center on the football team from 1983-1987, he has remained a passionate supporter of Pitt Athletics. As the owner and CEO of Pro Tapes, he exemplifies leadership and innovation, carrying the same drive he had as a student-athlete into his professional career. Along with his wife, LyndaSue, they are proud members of The Script Society and have made significant contributions, including gifts to Victory Heights and the Pitt Football Program. They also have supported the official NIL collective, Alliance 412. Their ongoing commitment reflects a belief in the power of athletics to shape the future of student-athletes and uphold Pitt's tradition of excellence.
"Ed's passion for Pitt Football is unmatched and this monumental gift is yet another example of his incredible dedication to our program," said Pat Narduzzi, Chris Bickell '97 Head Football Coach. "On behalf of our players, coaches and staff, I want to thank Ed and LyndaSue for their generous support and belief in our championship goals. Nothing great is ever accomplished alone and we are thankful for having great teammates in the Miller family."
This significant gift comes at a pivotal time, as Pitt Athletics continues to build momentum across its programs. Support like this strengthens the Panthers' ability to compete at the highest level and navigate what lies ahead.
"I owe much of my personal and professional good fortune to the lessons I learned at The University of Pittsburgh, and particularly the Pitt Football program. This gift is my way of giving back to a program that has played such an important role in shaping not only my life but the lives of so many remarkable athletes who have come before me and after me," said Miller.
