Heller, Evans Earn Wins at Journeymen Collegiate Classic Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Graduate student Reece Heller and redshirt-freshman Dylan Evans each went unbeaten to earn first-place finishes in their respective weight classes at the 2024 Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Five more Panthers earned podium finishes in the round-robin style tournament at Freedom High School Sunday.
Heller, ranked No. 18 at 184, earned three straight victories en route to the 184A title. The Riverwoods, Ill. native opened the tournament with a 4-1 sudden victory over Dylan Connell of Illinois and followed with an upset win over No. 8 Dylan Fishback of NC State. Heller claimed the top finish on a medical forfeit over Brian Soldano from Rutgers in the final.
Evans opened the tournament with a major decision, 12-2, over Michael Kilic (Arizona State) and won a 5-4 decision over Juruis Clark (Hofstra). The Pittsburgh native defeated Kyle Mosher (Hofstra) with a major decision, 17-6, in the final to finish first in the 157B weight class.
The Panthers also saw five others finish third in their respective weight classes with Nick Babin at 125A, Luca Augustine at 174A, Mac Stout at 197A, Anthony Santaniello finish third at 141B, and Kelin Laffey at 165C.
The Panthers had 11 wrestlers compete with three going unbeaten on the day, five wins over ranked opponents, four major decisions, three tech falls, and one pin.
