
Panthers Defeat Point Park 93-62 in Exhibition Play

PITTSBURGH – Pitt came out strong in the second half to break open the game and cruise to a 93-62 win over Point Park Tuesday evening in exhibition play at the Petersen Events Center. Three Panthers scored in double figures as Ishmael Leggett and Jaland Lowe combined for 46 points to help Pitt extended its exhibition win streak to 41 games.
Leggett paced the Panthers with 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field, including 3-of-3 from three-point range, to go along with nine rebounds, and five assists, while Jaland Lowe added 22 points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Newcomer Cameron Corhen posted a double-double in his first game with the Panthers with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Freshman guard Brandin Cummings came off the bench to add eight points and Guillermo Diaz Graham added six points and six rebounds.
The Panthers took a 50-42 edge leading into the half after shooting 47.2 percent (17-of-36) from the field and 92.3 percent (12-of-13) from the free throw line. The Pioneers kept the game close throughout the first half, but the Panthers increased their lead to double digits with two minutes remaining in the first half.
Leggett (16) and Lowe (15) each scored in double figures in the opening half, while Corhen led Pitt on the boards with six rebounds before the break. Eight of the nine Panthers that saw the floor in the first half scored. Leggett didn't miss a shot from the floor in the first half, shooting 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the beyond the arc.
Corhen sparked the offense for the Panthers to start the second half, scoring six of the Panthers 10 points as the used a 10-4 run to take a 14-point lead over the Pioneers. The Allen, Texas native scored 12 points in the opening nine minutes of the second half on 6-of-7 shooting from the field as Pitt increased their lead 70-52.
Pitt took a 26-point lead with a 12-2 run with under 10 minutes left to play and increased the lead to 29 with a 15-2 run with five minutes remaining. The Panthers led by 36 points with under 90-second remaining before Point Park hit a late three to trim the margin and snap a string of 13 consecutive misses from beyond the arc.
Point Park made six three-pointers and had double digit scoring efforts from Kaden Warner (13) and Aiden Miller (10).

Pitt is now 66-5 all-time in exhibition games, with a 35-0 mark at the Petersen Events Center.
