PITTSBURGH – Women's Soccer's Deborah Abiodun and Football's Braylan Lovelace were named this week's PNC Achievers of the Week.
Deborah Abiodun recorded a brace to lead Pitt to a 3-0 win over Syracuse Sunday at Ambrose Urbanic Field. She opened the scoring with a header off a Pitt corner in the 76th minutes before recording her second goal off another corner less than six minutes later for her second career multi-goal game.
Abiodun, who missed six games earlier this season, has recorded the game-winning goal in each of the past two matches for the Panthers.
Braylan Lovelace had one of the best games of his young career in No. 22 Pitt's 17-15 win over Cal on Saturday. The sophomore linebacker collected seven tackles with a career high two sacks and three TFLs as Pitt stayed unbeaten through their first six games of the season. His two sacks against the Golden Bears were the first of his career. Lovelace had a major third down sack at the end of the first half that pushed Cal out of field goal range and prevented any points from being scored as the Panthers ended up winning by just two. The Leechburg, PA native has accumulated 20 tackles, four TFLs and two sacks this season, helping Pitt to their first 6-0 start since 1982.
