Lowe Named ACC Rookie of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Jaland Lowe was named ACC Rookie of the Week Monday as announced by the league office following outstanding efforts against Syracuse and at No. 7 Duke. The Missouri City, Texas native averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 assists for the week to continue a string of strong performances by the freshman guard.
Lowe capped off the week with a 17-point, 6-assist, 0-turnover effort in an 80-76 win at No. 7 Duke. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers and scored six points in the final 43 seconds of play to help secure Pitt's first win over an AP Top 10 team since the 2014-15 season. Lowe's step back three over Kyle Filipowski with 43 seconds remaining gave Pitt a 75-71 advantage and he went 3-of-4 from the foul line in the final 18 seconds of play in the win.
In Tuesday's matchup with Syracuse, Lowe scored a season-high 20 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists. He was 8-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line in the game.
Lowe is averaging 13.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, while going 6-of-12 (.500) from three-point range, since joining the starting lineup four games ago.
Lowe and Carlton Carrington are the first set of Pitt teammates to each earn ACC Rookie of the Week accolades in the same season. Carrington has collected the honors four times this season.
