
Pitt Posts Season High Team Score; Fall to Clemson On The Road

CLEMSON, SC – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (2-3-0, 0-1-0 ACC) put up a hard fight, but fell to the Clemson Tigers (2-0-0, 1-0-0 ACC) Sunday afternoon at the Littlejohn Coliseum. With their 194.775 team total, the Panthers posted their highest score of the season.
BARS
Pitt kicked off the first ACC matchup of the season on bars. Jordyn Ewing was at the top of the lineup, securing a 9.750 along with senior Jah'Liyah Bedminster who also earned a 9.750 for her routine. Freshman Emily Todd tied for first overall this afternoon, posting a routine that scored a 9.825. Pitt finished the first rotation with a 48.625 team score.
VAULT
The Panthers continued to gain momentum as they moved to the second rotation – posting a 48.750 team score. Both Shruthi Anand and Kennedy Duke earned a 9.775 with Ciara Ward posting a 9.750. Bedminster posted the highest scored for the Panthers on vault – earning a 9.800.
FLOOR
Pitt continued to fight as they earned their highest event team score of the afternoon on floor - 49.100. Each gymnast earned a score of a 9.700 or higher for their routines. Freshman Todd posted a 9.800, Hallie Copperwheat earned a 9.825 and Bedminster secured a 9.850. Ewing showed out on floor – earning the highest score for the Pitt on this event with her 9.900.
BEAM
The Panthers completed this ACC dual meet on beam with their team score of 48.300. Both Todd and Copperwheat earned a 9.700 for their routines. Ewing posted the strongest routine for Pitt – earning a 9.750.
UP NEXT
The Panthers are heading to Raleigh, NC to meet the NC State Wolfpack on Friday, Jan. 26 with the start slated for 7 p.m.
