Gring, Goraj Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Swimming's Sydney Gring and Marcin Goraj were named this week's PNC Achievers of the Week after their performances in the Panthers' season-opener against Army last Friday.
Freshman Sydney Gring had a strong outing in her collegiate debut as the Panthers opened their season in a long-course meters meet against Army, Friday afternoon. Gring picked up three individual event wins the in 200 Free (2:05.38), 100 Free (57.73), and the 200 IM (2:21.91). The Reading, Pa., native was also a member of the 400 Free Relay team that took first with a time of 3:56.65 and a member of the 200 Medley Relay team that came in second in the with a time of 1:58.00.
Senior Marcin Goraj won all five events he participated in during the Panthers' season-opener, including picking up three individual event wins. Goraj won the 200 Free (1:54.00), 200 Back (2:03.56) and the 100 Fly (55.68) while also being a member of the 200 Medley Relay team (1:42.89) and the 400 Free Relay team (3:26.41).
