Filip Mirkovic Named To Prestigious Hermann Trophy Watch List

PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh senior midfielder Filip Mirkovic was named to the 2023 Hermann Trophy Watch List, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches Thursday afternoon.
Mikrovic was one of 37 NCAA Men's Division I college soccer players to earn the preseason honor. It marks the fourth straight season a Pitt player earned the recognition and the first time for the talented midfielder.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
One of the best players in the country, Mirkovic, led the ACC and ranked sixth in the NCAA with 12 assists last season while leading the Panthers to their second College Cup appearance in program history. His 12 assists also set the Panthers' single season record for assists while his 18 points ranked third on the squad. The junior was named First Team All-ACC and All-South Region for his strong play a season ago.
A great facilitator in the midfield for Pitt, Mirkovic has stamped his name all over the Panthers record book as he currently ranks fourth in program history in total assists (19) and assists per game (0.32) while ranking seventh in points per game (0.63).
He has also earned United Soccer Coaches Midfield Watch List, ACC Preseason Watch List and Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Top-100 Player recognition.

Fifteen men's players and 15 women's players will become Hermann Trophy semifinalists following completion of Division I All-America voting at the end of the fall season. On December 6th, the three women's finalists will be announced and on December 13th, the men's three finalists will be released.
The 2023 winner is revealed on Jan. 5th, 2024, at a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
