Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule; Season Tickets Now On Sale

PITTSBURGH – Pitt men's soccer head coach Jay Vidovich announced the Panthers' 2023 schedule Thursday morning. The Panthers will play a total of 17 matches – including exhibitions – with 11 of them at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Pitt, who finished the 2022 campaign as the No. 4 team in the country while earning its second trip to the College Cup in the past three seasons, opens the season with a road exhibition match against Cleveland State Saturday, Aug. 12th. The Panthers will then welcome Michigan State for the final tune-up of the exhibition slate on Friday, Aug. 18th at 7:00 pm.
The Panthers kick off the regular season with a match against in-state rival Penn State at Ambrose Urbanic Field on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 7:00 pm. Pitt will then play host to Howard on Monday, Aug. 28 at 7:00 pm.
A grueling month of September will open on the road as the Panthers travel to perennial power Georgetown Friday, Sept. 1 for a 7:00 pm kick. Pitt will then return home to take on Marshall Tuesday, Sept. 5 and open ACC play against Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 pm. The month will conclude with two road matches against Boston College Friday, Sept. 15 and against defending national champions Syracuse Friday Sept. 22 as well as a trio of home matches against Fairleigh Dickinson (Monday, Sept. 18), Denver (Monday, Sept. 25) and North Carolina (Friday, Sept. 29).
The final month of the regular season starts at home as the Panthers welcome ACC foe Virginia Tech on Friday, Oct. 6 for a 7:00 pm match. Pitt will then head to Virginia on Friday, Oct. 13 before closing out the home regular season slate with cross-town rival Duquesne on Tuesday, Oct. 17 and Duke on Saturday, Oct. 21. The regular season comes to a close on Friday, Oct. 27 as Pitt travels to South Bend to take on Notre Dame.
The first round of the ACC Tournament is set for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at campus sites with the conference championship match set for Sunday, Nov. 13 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
Pitt finished the 2022 campaign with a 12-5-5 overall record and a 3-2-3 ACC mark while earning their fourth straight NCAA Tournament bid. The Panthers took advantage of their opportunities in the postseason as they collected victories over Cleveland State, Akron, Kentucky and Portland to advance to their second College Cup in the past three seasons.
Pitt's televised match schedule, as well as promotional schedule, will be announced at a later date.

NEWS & NOTES
- The Panthers will be looking to secure their fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and third trip to the College Cup in the past four seasons in 2023.
- Since 2019, Pitt has been dominant on their home turf as they own a 32-4-5 record at Ambrose Urbanic Field. They own the seventh best winning percentage in the nation at home over that stretch (.841).
- Pitt will play nine teams who qualified for the 2022 NCAA Tournament including defending national champions Syracuse, Duke who advanced to the Elite 8 and Marshall who made it to the Sweet 16.
- September will be a crucial month for the Panthers as seven of their eight opponents will be 2022 NCAA Tournament teams.
