
Ramirez, Anderson Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Pitt produced another strong week of competition with softball sweeping the NC State Wolfpack and baseball shutting out the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in game two of this weekend's series. After successful performances this weekend, softball's Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez along with Jack Anderson from baseball have earned PNC Achiever of the Week status.
During this weekend's series sweep against the Wolfpack, Ramirez batted .600 (6-for-10) with four runs scored with a double, a home run, and six RBI in three games. The Miami, FL native helped the Panthers to their come-from-behind victory in the opening game of the series, making it a one-run ballgame with a three-run homer. In Sunday's first game of the doubleheader, the sophomore hit a double to help the Panthers take a 4-0 early lead which helped Pitt secure the win against NC State.
In the first game of this weekend's series against Georgia Tech, Anderson tacked his third walk of the game in the top of the fifth inning, at the time reaching base for the 8th straight time, and in 10 of his last 11 plate appearances. The Mars, PA native's efforts helped the Panthers dominate the Yellow Jackets to take the win during the second game of the series. Overall, the senior hit .444, with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 8 walks to complete his successful performance in this weekend's series.
