
Former Panther Blair Calvo Makes MLB Debut For Rockies

PITTSBURGH, PA -- RHP Blair Calvo made his major league debut last night, Tuesday May 30th, for the Colorado Rockies. He threw a 1-2-3 eighth inning on only eleven pitches against the Arizona Diamondbacks, as he got Evan Longoria to ground out to second for the final out of his outing.
Calvo joined the Panther's program ahead of the 2017 season but was unable to participate as he was rehabbing from Tommy John Surgery. As a Panther, Calvo started in all 13 games he appeared in during the 2018 season. He threw 46.1 innings throughout his Pitt career, striking out 45 batters in his time in Oakland, Pa. He had a number of great outings during his 2018 campaign. He threw six scoreless innings against Seton Hall while striking out a career-high eight batters and earned a win against Virginia as he threw five scoreless innings and only surrendered two hits.
After being selected in the 26th round of the 2019 MLB Draft, Calvo has spent the last four seasons in the Colorado Rockies organization.
In Triple A this season he has appeared in 20 games, has struck out 18 batters, and has earned three saves. Throughout his four years in the Rockies organization, Calvo owns a 11-9 record with a 4.86 ERA and has pitched in nearly 100 games (98). He has thrown 153.2 innings and has struck out 187 hitters since being drafted.
