
Otoniel Badjana and Ilse Steigenga Take Home First Place Finishes At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The University of Pittsburgh track and field team wrapped up action at Penn Relays, Saturday evening.
On Thursday, the Panthers kicked off competition on the field. Junior Foluke Olujide-Ajibade claimed 13th place in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 56.75m. Sophomore Daniel Amaya recorded a fifth-place finish on the men's side with a mark of 59.64m.
On the track, Freshman Devin Nugent secured 13th place with a time of 52.57 in the men's 400m hurdles.
Next, Sophomore Finn Walsh stamped his name as ninth in program history with a time of 3:46.48 to notch 17th place.
In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Emily Brown crossed the finish line first for the Panthers claiming sixth place with a personal best time of 10:13.17. Sadie Carey-Tharp placed 16th with a time of 10:34.21. She was followed by Emily Jobes in 25th place with a time of 10:59.69. Jobes currently holds the ninth-best time in program history.
To conclude Thursday's action, Winnie Incorvaia recorded a personal best in the women's 5000m with a time of 16:34.79. Incorvaia moved up to fifth-best in program history.
On Friday, Emily Brown, Mackenzie Sullivan, Claire Hoffman, and Ellen Baker claimed seventh place in the women's distance meter relays with a time of 11:44.91. On the men's side, Finn Walsh, Raymond Oriakhi, Jack Balick, and Jack Miller recorded a third-place finish with a time of 9:42.76.
Freshman Aleksandra Stoilova advanced to the women's 100m finals with a time of 11.81.
Sophomore Otoniel Badjana took home a first-place finish in the men's shot put with a mark of 17.79m. Badjana recorded a personal best, remains second-best in program history, and currently holds the fourth-best mark in the ACC.
Saturday's competition started with Junior Ilse Steigenga recording a first-place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.47m. Steigenga is currently tied for second-best in program history and moves up to second in the ACC. On the men's side, Freshman Sacha Quequin notched a personal best with a mark of 7.05m.
In the women's high jump, Alesia Rengle and Eva Baldursdottir cleared 1.69m to tie for sixth place.

The Panthers will return to Raleigh, N.C. for the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on May 11-13.
