Panthers Prepped For Raleigh Relays & CMU Invitational

PITTSBURGH— The University of Pittsburgh track and field team will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 23- Mar. 25 hosted by NC State at Paul Derr Track & Field Facility. Another group will head to Carnegie Mellon University for CMU Invitational from Mar. 24 - Mar. 25.

Competition is scheduled to begin in Raleigh, N.C. on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. with the men's 1500m. The meet will proceed Friday with the Panthers competing at 4:20 p.m. in the women's 1500m. The Panthers will close out competition around 8:59 p.m. with the men's 10k late Friday night.

"Looking forward to our return to the Raleigh relays, this year it is another high level meet providing the ability for the student-athletes to compete for ACC and regional marks," stated distance coach Brad Herbster.

Women- Ellen Baker (800m), Sadie Carey-Tharp (5000m), Reagan Flannery (5000m), Winnie Incorvaia (10000m), Caroline Rusinski (10000m), Emily Brown (3000m Steeplechase), Gianna Cagliola (3000m Steeplechase).

Men- Jack Balick (1500m), Ethan Fingerhut (1500m), Luke Simpson (1500m), Trey Gannon (5000m), Quintin Gatons (5000m), Peyton Geehrer (5000m), Luke Miller (5000m), Sam Otis (5000m), Luke Henseler (5000m), Jack Miller (3000m Steeplechase).

Women- Sydney McCallum (100m), Alma Eki Evuna (100m), Michaela Schiele (800m, 1500m), Mia Ingalls (800m, 1500m), Claire Hoffman (1500m), Michaela Schiele (1500m), Sarah Hurst (1500m), Anais Williams (Triple Jump), Niya Crawford (Discus, Hammer), Foluke Olujide-Ajibade (Hammer), Taylor Newton (Javelin).

Men- Ethan Maher (5000m), Alexander Holbrook (5000m), Otoniel Badjana (Discus, Hammer), Daniel Amaya (Discus, Hammer). FJ Braccini (Javelin).

Black & Gold Invite Rewind:

Emily Brown earned eighth place in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:28.62. Brown is currently ninth in program history.
In the women's 3000m, Sadie Carey-Tharp earned first place with a time of 9:52.67, Winnie Incorvaia took home second with a time of 9:56.41, and Caroline Rusinski recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 10:16.50.
Sophomore Trey Gannon recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 3:50.44, Jack Miller claimed 10th with a time of 3:51.73
In the women's steeplechase, Emily brown earned a first-place finish with a time of 6:50.07. Freshman Gianna Cagliola collected sixth-pace with a time of 7:19.14.
Freshman Taylor Newton recorded a mark of 33.37m (109'5") to secure a 15th place finish in the women's javelin
Otoniel Badjana secured 7th place in the men's shot put with a mark of 16.31m (53'6.25"). Badjana notched the fifth-best mark in program history. On the women's side, Niya Crawford claimed 13th place in the women's shot put with a park of 13.27m (43'10.5").
In the women's hammer throw, Junior Foluke Olujide-Ajibade claimed a fourth place with a mark of 54.64m (179' 3"). Daniel Amaya notched a personal best and fourth place on the men's side with a mark of 59.40m (194' 0").
