
Panthers Welcome #20 Penn State to Pittsburgh Tuesday

PITTSBURGH, PA – Pitt lacrosse continues their home stand Tuesday afternoon against the #20 Penn State Nittany Lions. The nonconference, in-state battle is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
Over the weekend, the Panthers dropped an ACC contest to #10 Virginia 15-11. Molly Carter, Ava Washington and Dylana Williams each scored two goals and Hannah Van Middelem stopped 12 Cavaliers' shots, but Pitt couldn't match a fourth quarter surge from the team in blue and orange.
Penn State is coming off a weekend upset win over #14 Princeton 16-14 and is 7-2 so far in 2023. The Nittany Lions have a second ranked win, a 9-7 victory over then #17 Rutgers. Kristin O'Neill paces Penn State offensively, with 31 goals and three assists, while Ashley Bowan has played the majority of the minutes in the net, making 54 saves to this point.
Last year in State College, Pitt fell to Penn State 15-7. In that game, O'Neill had three goals and an assist. Emily Coughlin, Sydney Naylor, Maureen McNierney and Williams all scored individual goals for the Panthers.
The Panthers will welcome students for a Panther Pitt and Oakland Zoo appreciation game. Pizza and coozies will be given out to students will supplies last. In addition, Lilli, Pitt's honorary teammate from the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, will be in attendance to share the day with the team.
Admission for all 2023 Pitt lacrosse games at Highmark Stadium is free for all fans.
