Jess Vega Finishes 25th on Platform.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman Claire Jansen recorded a personal best time of 1:55.23 in the 200-yard backstroke during the final day of the 2023 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center, Saturday morning.
Jansen finished 43rd overall while junior Sophie Yendell swam a time of 49.70 in the 100-yard freestyle (62nd overall) and sophomore Jess Vega totaled 239.70 in the platform (25th place).
"Today was a great finish to the week," said head coach Chase Kreitler, "Jess had a very good performance on platform, earning a 25th place finish. Claire also had a great swim this morning in the 200 Back in heat 1. She dropped another .83 from her best time from ACCs to go 1:55.23. It was nice to see her execute the details and race strategy we've been working on and to have another great time drop in that event."
"Overall Sophie, Jess and Claire did a fantastic job of competing at their first NCAAs this week! Our entire team and staff are very proud of the way they represented Pitt and super excited for the future of the program. This week has been a great step toward where we want to go as a program."
