KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Sophie Yendell and Claire Jansen improved their prelim times during the third day of competition of the 2023 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center, Friday morning.
Jansen finished 37th in the trials of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.87, while Yendell finished 40th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.79.
"Both Sophie and Claire did a great job of putting together their fastest prelims swims they've ever had in their events this morning," said head coach Chase Kreitler. "Sophie was 52.79 today verses 53.35 at ACC prelims and Claire was 52.87 verses 53.54 at ACCs prelims. We have spent a lot of time this year focusing on performing in the morning, so it was great to see that progress.
"For Sophie, Claire and Jess, being competitors at this meet is giving them a vision for where we want to be as a women's program moving forward and it's great to see."
