
Ilse Steigenga Notches Eighth In The Women’s Long Jump At NCAA Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Junior Ilse Steigenga finished eighth in the women's long jump for the University of Pittsburgh at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Steigenga earned first-team All-America honors.
Steigenga notched eighth place with a mark of 6.39m. The nine athletes ahead of Steigenga were Jasmine Moore- Florida (7.03m), Ackelia Smith-Texas (6.88m), Claire Bryant- Florida (6.88m), Alyssa Jones-Stanford (6.74m), Charisma Taylor-Tennessee (6.64m), Alysah Hickey-Oregon (6.48m), and Synclair Savage- Louisville (6.41m). Steigenga still sits at fifth-best in the country for women's long jump with a mark of 6.55m.
Felix Wolter kicked off the men's heptathlon by placing eighth in the 60m as he crossed the finish line with a time of 6.65 seconds. He then notched a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.58m to earn 1855 points. Wolter recorded 15th place with a mark of 13.13m in shot put. He wrapped up his first day with a high jump mark of 1.91m to claim 3253 points.
Wolter fell Saturday morning competing in the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles and was not able to finish due to injury.
