Panthers Secure Three Podium Titles
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (10-15, 2-5 EAGL) fought until the end, but fell by 0.050 of a point to the LIU Sharks (195.200) to complete their regular season on Friday evening at the Fitzgerald Field House.
The Panthers collected three podium titles this evening on vault, bars, and floor. Senior Ciara Ward secured the vault title, sophomore Sidney Washington claimed the bars title, and sophomore Jordyn Ewing took the floor title.
VAULT
Pitt started the evening off strong on vault. Ward posted a career-high on tonight – earning a 9.900 to secure the first-place title. Freshman Kennedy Duke and Washington each posted a 9.850. The Panthers finished the first rotation with a 49.125 overall – the second highest event score of the night.
BARS
The Panthers continued onto their second rotation – bars. Washington started the event off strong for Pitt – earning a career-high 9.900 to take the first-place title overall. Junior Faith Lerro also posted a career-high tonight – scoring a 9.775.
BEAM
Senior Christina Weiss and Duke posted a 9.775 for their routines on beam. Sophomore Jordyn Ewing earned a 9.825. Freshman Reyna Garvey secured the highest score on beam for Pitt – earning a 9.850. Pitt finished the third rotation with a 48.975 overall.
FLOOR
The Panthers finished tonight's meet on floor. Senior Nay'yarrah Winder and Washington each earned a 9.850 for their routines. Ewing posted a 9.875 – earning the first-place title overall. Senior Ciara Ward anchored the event – posting a 9.825 for her routine. Pitt completed the floor event with their highest rotation score for the night – securing a 49.175 overall.

The Panthers will compete in the EAGL Championships hosted by New Hampshire in Durham, NH on Saturday, March 18.
