Sarah Seamans Named to NFCA All-Tournament Team

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Dani Drogemuller struck out 10 batters and held Fordham scoreless for four innings as Pitt defeated the Rams, 7-3, to improve to 3-1 on the season at the Eddie C. Moore Complex early Sunday afternoon. The Panthers scored seven runs on eight hits and stole four bases, en route to their third straight win at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Tournament.

Drogemuller threw her seventh double figure strikeout game of her career and first of the season. The Frankfort, Ill. native tossed a 7.0 complete game, giving up three earned runs on four hits, with three walks against 28 batters faced. Senior Bailey Drapola finished the game going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while Kayla Lane went 1-for-2 with a run and swiped two bags.

Lane drew a walk and stole second before Rachael Fuerst (1-for-2, R, RBI, SB) got walked in the bottom of the second inning. A double steal of third a second put the Panthers in scoring position. Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez singled to the shortstop to bring in Lane and Fuerst eventually scored on a hit by pitch.

The Panthers scored a run in the fourth on a Kat Rodriguez (1-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI) double to take a 3-0 lead. The Rams tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs on three hits in the frame. Pitt scored another run in the fifth off Fuerst's single to left center to retake the lead by a run. In the sixth inning, Drapola drove in Rodriguez and Sarah Seamans (0-for-1, R, SH) to extend the Panthers' lead 7-3.

SEAMANS NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Graduate student Sarah Seamans was named to the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic All-Tournament team after batting .500 (6-for-12) with a .750 slugging percentage, two RBI, a home run, and three stolen bases over four games at the three-day tournament. Seamans went a high 3-for-4 at the plate in the Panthers win over No. 21 Auburn.

The Panthers return to the state of Florida Feb. 17-19, or the Panther Invitational Tournament hosted by FIU in Miami. Pitt will face off against FIU, Missouri and Butler.
