
Track and Field Names Dentarius Locke as Assistant Coach

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh Track and Field team has hired Dentarius Locke as assistant coach for the Panthers sprints squads, as announced by Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country, Alonzo Webb, Monday afternoon. Locke comes to Pitt from Georgia State University.
"We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Coach Dentarius Locke," said Webb. "He has a passion for people and mentorship. With his impressive background in the sport and a passion for coaching, Coach Locke knows what it takes to be successful and is ready to lead the sprint group to success in the ACC."
As a collegiate athlete, Locke began his career at Tennessee and later transferred to Florida State. At Tennessee, Locke earned All-American status in the indoor 60m and outdoor 200m. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2011. In 2012, the Tampa, Florida native returned to his home state, where he would go on to set school records in the 100m and 200m and earn All-American status as a member of Florida State's 4x400m squad. Locke concluded the 2013 season by running sub-10 seconds in the 100m at the NCAA Outdoor Championship, just the 85th collegiate athlete to do so at the time.
"As an athlete who has successfully competed in the SEC and ACC as a 10x NCAA All American, SEC Freshman of the Year, NCAA 60 meter champion, 2x ACC Meet MVP and 6x ACC champion, Coach Locke brings experience to the position. He has coached at the DI collegiate level and as a professional speed coach. His expertise in training athletes, will undoubtedly have a significant impact on our program. The Panthers will face their next test on January 13th at the PSU Challenge in State College, Pa.
