PITTSBURGH – Pitt baseball and head coach Mike Bell announced the release of their 2024 schedule this afternoon. The Panthers will play a 55-game schedule and are slated to host 26 home contests at Charles L. Cost Field this season.
The Panthers will compete against 11 teams who qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season. Five of the ACC teams that the Panthers will face were top-20 RPI teams (ratings percentage index) following the conclusion of conference tournament play last season. That includes the defending ACC Champion Clemson Tigers.
Pitt will open up with a three-game series against Maine in Port Charlotte, FL starting on Friday, February 16. They will travel to Corpus Christi, TX the following weekend as they play Washington (Feb. 23), Maryland (Feb. 24) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Feb. 25-26) in the Kleberg Bank College Classic. They'll return to Pittsburgh to host Youngstown State on Wednesday, February 28 for their home-opener at Charles L. Cost Field.
The Panthers then travel to Las Vegas, NV to face off against Oklahoma (Mar. 1), Ohio State (Mar. 2), and California (Mar. 3) in the inaugural Las Vegas College Baseball Classic at Las Vegas Ballpark.
Pitt hosts a number of marquee ACC matchups as Boston College, Virginia, Duke, Georgia Tech and Florida State will all make trips to Charles L. Cost Field this spring. The Panthers' home non-conference opponents include St. Bonaventure (Mar. 6), Akron (Mar. 12), Bucknell (Mar. 13), Kent State (Mar. 19), Bryant (Apr. 26-28), West Virginia (Apr. 30), Wright State (May 8) and Penn State (May 14).
The Panthers will make five ACC road trips this spring beginning with a trip to Chapel Hill, NC in early March to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (Mar. 8-10). They follow that up with trips to Virginia Tech (Mar. 28-30), Clemson (Apr. 19-21), Notre Dame (May 3-5) and will end the season at Miami (May 16-18).
The ACC Tournament will be held at a site yet to be determined from Tuesday, May 21 – Sunday, May 26.
