PITTSBURGH—Pitt cornerback M.J. Devonshire was named to the 2023 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Football Team (second team) revealed this afternoon on ACC Network.
Devonshire led the Panthers with four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. His four interceptions are the most by a Pitt defender in a season since 2012 (Jason Hendricks, six).
Among ACC players, Devonshire ranks second in interceptions and first with 115 interception return yards.
His biggest return of the season was an 86-yard pick six against Louisville on Oct. 14 that helped seal a 38-21 upset of the previously unbeaten Cardinals.
Devonshire has three career interception returns for touchdowns, tying the all-time Pitt record and one shy of the ACC mark.
This is Devonshire's second All-ACC accolade. In 2022, he was a second-team honoree as a return specialist and Honorable Mention at corner.
The Panthers had four players receive 2023 All-ACC Honorable Mention: tight end Gavin Bartholomew, return specialist Kenny Johnson, safety Donovan McMillon and wide receiver Bub Means.
In an injury-shortened season, Bartholomew compiled 18 catches for 326 yards and a touchdown. He averaged a team-high 18.1 yards per reception.
Johnson averaged 23.1 yards per kickoff return (15 returns for 347 yards) during his freshman season to rank fourth in the ACC. He had a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown against North Carolina on Sept. 23, the longest by an ACC player this year.
McMillon compiled 105 total tackles this season, the most by a Pitt defender since 2015 (Jordan Whitehead, 109). His average of 8.8 tackles per game ranks fourth in the ACC.
Means led Pitt in receiving yards (721) and receiving touchdowns (six) on 41 total catches. Each of his six scores came against ACC opponents over the final eight contests of the year.
