Pitt Varsity Letter Club Announces 2024 Awardees of Distinction

PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh Varsity Letter Club is excited to announce the 2024 Awardees of Distinction. Since 1961, the Pitt Varsity Letter Club has honored letterwinners who have distinguished themselves in their profession or community, and who, by their accomplishments, have enhanced the value of the intercollegiate athletics programs at the University of Pittsburgh.
The 2024 Awardees of Distinction class includes:
- Ken Balkey, Track & Field, Cross Country
- Dave Bucklew, Football
- Sue Hershelman, Volleyball
- Paul Knouse, Squash & Tennis
- Jason Matthews, Men's Basketball
- Ray Olsen, Football
- Stuart Swanson, Swimming & Diving
- Kimberly Yarnall, Gymnastics
This year, the Pitt Varsity Letter Club will also be honoring two young Forever Panthers as the inaugural Pitt Varsity Letter Club Rising Star Award recipients. The Rising Star Award recognizes Forever Panthers who are 10 years or less from their final year of competition at Pitt and have distinguished themselves in their profession or community, and who, by their accomplishments, have enhanced the value of the intercollegiate athletics programs at the University of Pittsburgh.
The 2024 Rising Star Award recipients are:
- Jordan Fields, Track & Field
- Andin Fosam, Track & Field
The 2024 Awardees of Distinction and the Rising Star Award recipients will be honored at the 62nd Anniversary Varsity Letter Club Awards Dinner, taking place Friday, Feb. 23, 2024. The event will be held at The Westin Pittsburgh and is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. The 2024 award recipients will then be honored Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Pitt-Virginia Tech Men's Basketball game which is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
