Panthers Dominate Point Park In Monday Night Exhibition, 117-49

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team closed out exhibition play Monday night with a commanding 117-49 victory over Point Park at the Petersen Events Center. Three Panthers scored 20+ points in the dominant win.
The 117 points are the most Pitt has scored in an exhibition game in program history as they finished the game shooting 67.1% from the floor and 62.5% from behind the arc in the win.
The Panthers were led offensively by Jala Jordan who netted a team-high 25 points on 10-for-17 from the floor and 2-for-3 from behind the arc while adding three steals and three blocks. Liatu King finished her efficient night with 24 points and six rebounds on 11-for-14 from the floor while Bella Perkins netted 21 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.
Pitt jumped out quick on Monday as they used a 32-0 run to take the commanding 37-5 lead through 10 minutes of play. Perkins and Jordan each netted nine points in the opening quartetr while King added eight of her own.
The Pitt offense continued to cruise in the second quarter as they outscored Point Park 24-16 to take the 61-21 lead into the locker room. Pitt finished the first half shooting 27-for-42 (64.3%) while they held the Pioneers to just 6-for-27 (22.2%) from the floor through 20 minutes.
Pitt dominated the third quarter as they outscored Point Park 28-6 while going 9-for-13 from the floor and 2-for-2 from behind the arc. King and Jordan combined for 17 points in the quarter as Pitt continued to dominate.
The Panthers another 28-point quarter in the fourth as they were able to secure the 117-49 home victory in the final tune-up before the regular season.
Pitt owned the 62-8 edge in scoring inside the paint and the 37-2 edge in scoring off of turnovers in the win. All 10 Pitt players scored at least two points and grabbed at least one rebound. As a team, Pitt had 27 assists on 47 made baskets while notching nine blocks.
Pitt opens their 2023-24 regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 7 as they take on Yale inside the Petersen Events Center at 7:00 pm.
