Pitt Defeats Akron in Second Fall Scrimmage

The Panthers defeated the Zips 12-11 in Pitt's second scrimmage of the fall.

Offense

C.J. Funk was 2-3 with 4 RBI on the afternoon. Funk had an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning and a bases clearing, three-run, triple in the bottom of the sixth.
Bischke went 2-2 with 2 BB and 3 runs scored. He is 5-5 with 4 RBI and 5 runs scored this fall.
Sebastian Pisacreta hit a game-tying three-run blast over the left centerfield wall in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Bryce Rudisill lined a double down the first base line to lead off the bottom of the ninth. He would score the eventual game winning run on an error by Akron's pitcher. It was the first hit by Rudisill in a Panther uniform.
Dom Popa, Chris Baker and Anthony LaSala all had hits this afternoon as well

Pitching

Ryan Reed and Aidan Coleman gave the Panthers a quality start, allowing only one hit in their four innings combined.
Ryan Reed started the game for Pitt and went 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 3 K
Aidan Coleman came in to start the top of the third inning, offering a similiar line as he went 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 K. Coleman escaped bases loaded jam in the top of the fourth without allowing a run.
Phil Fox started the top of the eigth inning for Pitt and finished with a final line of 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K
Richie Dell came on to start the ninth inning and held the Zips, he finished with 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 K. Dell has allowed only one hit throughout his two innings this fall.

Up Next

The Panthers will play their Blue vs. Gold Fall World Series this week, beginning this Tuesday, October 24. Game two will be played on Thursday, October 26, as game three will be played on that Friday, October 27.
The games will be six innings in length and will start at approximately 1:45 p.m. each day.
