Pitt Women Set School Record in 400 MR During First Day in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Pitt women's 400 Medley Relay team broke the school record during the first day of a double-dual meet against Notre Dame and Penn State.
The 400 Medley relay team of Claire Jansen, Jessica Strong, Sophie Yendell, and Avery Kudlac swam a time of 3:36.44, recording the fastest time in the nation thus far this season. The 200 Free relay team of Yendell, Kudlac, Tara Culibrk, and Jansen also finished first overall with a time of 1:30.52, which now ranks as the fourth fastest time in the nation.
The Panthers picked up two more event wins, including a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Fly. Jansen won the 200 Back with a time of 1:54.82 while Parker Del Balso finished second to Penn State in the event with a time of 1:58.18. Yendell (52.96), Kudlac (53.77), and Sydney Gring (53.99) swept the 100 Fly. Jansen's time in the 200 Back is currently the second fastest time in the nation while Yendell's time in the 100 Fly ranks at No. 10.
Strong and Kudlac continued to shine in their individual events, as Strong finished first to Penn State and second overall in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:01.98. Kudlac came in third overall in the 100 free with a time of 49.85.
On the diving side, Maggie Foley finished third to Penn State and fourth to Notre Dame in the 1-meter with a total score of 245.55.
UP NEXT
The Panthers return to the Rolfs Aquatic Center for the final day of the double dual meet with Notre Dame and Penn State. The meet is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
