Game Storylines
• Pitt and Wake Forest meet for the first time since the 2021 ACC Championship Game, when the Panthers scored a 45-21 triumph in Charlotte.
• This is only the third all-time meeting between the two schools. The inaugural contest was played in Winston-Salem, a 34-13 Pitt win that clinched the 2018 Coastal Division title.
• The Panthers enter the second half of the season with newfound momentum following last week's 38-21 upset of previously undefeated Louisville.
• Since 2015, Pat Narduzzi has directed Pitt to 42 victories in ACC play, the second-highest win total during that span. Pitt trails only Clemson (62).
• Pitt is one of just six teams that will play 11 "Power Conference" opponents in 2023, joining Colorado, Louisville, Purdue, Utah and West Virginia.
• Quarterback Christian Veilleux is set to make his second career start after engineering the Louisville upset. Veilleux threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his debut.
• Pitt once again fields one of the nation's top pass rushes. The Panthers are averaging an ACC-best 3.33 sacks per game, which ranks eighth nationally.
• Linebacker Shayne Simon and defensive ends Bam Brima and Samuel Okunlola share the team lead with three sacks each.
• The Panthers lead the ACC (tied) and rank seventh nationally with two defensive touchdowns. M.J. Devonshire's 86-yard "pick six" against Louisville proved crucial in last week's result.
• In this week's major Top 25 polls, no fewer than five Pitt opponents are ranked.
