
Panthers Struggle In Second Half In Road Loss At Syracuse Thursday

SYRACUSE, NY – The Pitt women's basketball team (7-8, 0-4 ACC) dropped their third straight game Thursday night on the road to the Syracuse Orange at the JMA Wireless Dome, 89-71. With the win, Syracuse improved to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the ACC.
Amber Brown and Liatu King combined to score 38 points in the road loss. Brown finished off her career night with 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists while King netted 17 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

FIRST QUARTER
- The Panthers came out quick as they led 7-2 just over a minute into the game as Amber Brown netted a pair of free throws, Avery Strickland buried a corner triple and Maliyah Johnson hit a mid-range jumper.
- The Orange responded with a 12-2 run to take the 14-9 lead at the first quarter media timeout.
- Liatu King beat the shot clock for the final bucket of the quarter for Pitt as they went to the second quarter trailing 19-13.
- After King opened the quarter with a jumper, the Orange scored the next six to push their lead to 25-15.
- Strickland knocked down her second three of the game, Syracuse scored six straight to take the 31-20 lead midway through the quarter.
- Over the final five minutes, Pitt went on a 19-4 run as Aislin Malcolm came off the bench and knocked down three triples while King finished off a pair of layups. Pitt claimed the 39-33 lead through 20 minutes.
