PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (5-6, 0-0 EAGL) return to the Fitzgerald Filed House for the Backyard Brawl to host rival West Virginia on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:00 p.m.

BACKYARD BRAWL
- This rivalry meet will recognize the 50th anniversary of Title IX and highlight the history of Pitt Gymnastics.
- To honor this event, the first 500 fans will receive Pitt gymnastics royal tote bags.
- Gear up for the big meet and Roc your Royal to cheer on the Panthers.
- During the meet, our Forever Panthers will be acknowledged and celebrated at Alumnae Recognition Night.
- On top of this fun packed night, we will also be honoring our faculty and staff for our MVP night.
- The Panthers topped the SEMO Redhawks, 194.700, and the Fisk Bulldogs, 189.650, but fell short against the Ball State Cardinals, 196.300.
- The Panthers had their highest performing rotation of the meet on beam – earning a 49.075.
- Hallie Copperwheat set a new career-high, earning a 10.000 from one judge and securing the first-place title with her score of 9.950.
- Sophomore Sidney Washington earned the event title on floor with her score of 9.950 – setting a new career-high.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- The Mountaineers posted a season-best team score (196.375) on Sunday afternoon at a quad meet against Iowa State, Towson, and Eastern Michigan.
- For the first time this season, the WVU gymnastics team hit 24-of-24 routines.
- Three mountaineers matched their career-high scores on floor with senior Emily Holmes-Hackerd earning a 9.925.
- Floor was their best event of the afternoon, setting a season-best 49.375 team score.
- WVU secured five podium finishes during Sunday's meet with three first-place finishes on vault, floor, and the all-around.
- Friday's meet will be the 88th meeting between the Panthers and the Mountaineers. WVU currently holds a 69-17 lead over the Mountaineers.
