Panthers Wrap Up Action At The Nittany Lion Challenge

University Park, PA- The University of Pittsburgh had another successful weekend as they continued their indoor season at the Nittany Lion Challenge in University Park, PA.
On the track, Pitt had multiple student-athletes earn top-10 program marks. Mackenzie Sullivan notched third place in the women's 600m race with a time of 1:33. 16. Her time is currently the sixth-best in program history. Devin Nugent took home first place with a time of 1:19.06 in the men's 600m race. He is currently tied for third-best time in program history. Stephon Brown posted a top-10 mark in the men's 60m earning first place with a time of 6.71. Brown currently remains second-best in program history. Che Nwabuko in his first meet for the panthers claimed a top 10-mark in the men's 60m with a time of 6.84. He is currently fifth-best in program history. Luke Henseler took home third place in the men's 3000m race. He is currently third-best in program history.
In the men's 800m, Jack Balick claimed first place with a time of 1:52.09. Emily Brown took home second place in the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.33. In the men's 200m, Nigel Hussey placed second with a time of 21.49 and Imani Clark notched second place with a time of 24.29 in the women's 200m. Newcomer Aleksandra Stoilova came in second place in the women's 200m final with a time of 7.65. Trey Gannon placed first in the men's 1-mile race with a time of 4:09.41.
In the men's 4x400, Felix Wolter, Stephon Brown, Nigel Hussey, and Devin Nugent earned first place (3:11.07). Jack Balick, Finn Walsh, Luke Simpson, and Trey Gannon secured fifth place (3:21.14). In the women's 4x400, Caleia Johnson, Imani Clark, Nikki Scherer, and Mackenzie Sullivan notched first place (3:44.08). Sydney McCullum, Jazmyn Potts, Alma Evuna Eki, and Emily Brown placed eighth (4:04.36).
On the field, Otoniel Badjana moved up in the top-10 program marks. In the men's shot put Badjana secured fifth place (17.01). He is currently fifth-best in program history. In the men's weight, took home ninth place (16.43m) and remains ninth-best in program history. While Amaya Daniel earned fifth place (17.64) and is currently sixth-best in program history.
"There were some encouraging performances from this meet, things that we can build on as the season progresses. And like the season opener in December the energy and effort of the team was felt. We'll continue getting a little better with each opportunity, " head coach Alonzo Webb stated. "We always like to end a meet on a high note with the 4x4 relays and we did that with wins from our women's and men's teams, it's been a long time since we have accomplished that in this meet against our in-state rival," continued Webb.
